Bendigo Mountain Bike Club - Winter warmers coming your way....

The Bendigo Mountain Bike Club is taking a different approach to riding over the colder months this year. The club is arranging a number of riding initiatives that are aimed at broadening the offering to the Bendigo mountain biking community.  These include:

  • Becoming part of the Interwinter series for the first time and participating with other local clubs to hold a Goldfields regional racing series. The Bendigo event is on 31 July  at Andy’s Trail Network.

  • Running a women’s specific race at the Spring Gully Trail Network on 21 August

  • Conducting regular social ride days at various locations around Bendigo including Andy’s Trail Network and Spring Gully.

  • Conducting regular activities for juniors.

Our program kicked off last week with a great turn out for the Five Mile Creek 3 hour event at Moama. It was great to see so many Bendigo riders having fun on the banks of the mighty Murray river. The parent and child category was the big winner on the day and I'm sure we will see that format included at future MTB events.

The next event is Round 1 of the Interwinter series on Sunday 29 May at Creswick. It's one of the few chances you get to legally ride your bike around a golf course so make sure to check it out at www.entryzone.com.au  A series entry is great value (get in before this weekend) and great a great way to support the other Goldfields Track mountain bike club.

Our first social ride of the year will be the following weekend on Sunday 5 June at Spring Gully. Junior activities will start at 9am and the main social ride will start at 10am. This will include a tour of the newly completed green loop and the full 15km loop for those feeling a bit more adventurous.

The full  calendar is now up on the club website www.mtbbendigo.com and regular updates will be provided via Facebook and email.

We hope to see you out on the trails at some stage over Winter. Remember to dress for the conditions and use lights for your commuting. Head into one of our  local bike shops if you want some advice and a great deal.
